What is CPC?
Driver Certificate of Professional Competence qualification (Driver CPC) is a professional qualification for bus and lorry drivers who wish to drive for commercial use.
Who Needs It?
If you hold a category C1, C1+E, C, C+E, D1, D1+E, D, or D+E licence, you must hold a DQC card as a legal requirement as a commercial driver carrying goods or passengers.

What Type of Training Do I Need?
Drivers with Acquired Rights (who passed their car test before 1997)
Drivers have two options to obtain the DQC.

Option 1 – Periodic Training
- Complete 35 hours of Driver CPC Periodic Training. This can be done online or by attending a face-to-face course.
Option 2 – Initial Qualification
- Module 2 Driver CPC Case Studies theory. https://www.gov.uk/book-theory-test
- Module 4 Practical test
New Drivers (who passed their car test after 1997)
New drivers must complete the Initial Qualification
- Module 2 Driver CPC Case Studies theory. https://www.gov.uk/book-theory-test
- Module 4 Practical test, which is a practical ‘show me, tell me’ test where drivers must show various operations as a lorry driver
Courses We Offer
Driver CPC Module 4
Anyone taking a full HGV Driving course with us, will have their Mod 4 CPC included as part of the training.
If you have already obtained your LGV/PCV licence, but not your CPC Card, we offer courses where you will receive training by a member of our team and then examined by our in-house examiner.
These courses are currently priced at £150 + vat + £55 Test Fee (£235 in total)
